Despite the backlash, Miranda Lambert seemingly has zero remorse for embarrassing a fan of hers.
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, the country music superstar is currently headlining a Vegas residency slot. And during one of her performances last week, she stopped her concert abruptly to call out a fan.
According to reports, while Lambert was performing her song Tin Man, she spotted a fan, who paid to be at her show, taking a âselfie.â Lambert took the opportunity to call out the paying fan in front of the entire crowd.
She announced, âIâm gonna stop for a minute.â Lambert then went on to tell the woman she was motioning to, to stop taking selfies instead of listening to the music.
âThese girls are worried about their selfie and not listening to the song, itâs pissing me off a little bit. Sorry, I donât like it at all. Weâre here to hear some country music tonight. Iâm singing some country damn music.â
As the woman put her phone away, Lambert began to performing again. People at the show were quick to show their support for Lambert, cheering her on as she called out the âselfie-takers.â
Now, following her latest performance, Lambert stopped her concert again after spotting a fan wearing a t-shirt that read, âShoot tequila, not selfies.â A shirt Lambert seemingly appreciated.
âHer shirt says, âShoot tequila, not selfies,â Lambert explained to the crowd. âShe did it, I didnât!â
Now people are even more upset with Lambert for throwing salt on the wound. âWow! Canât believe this is her response to her rudeness,â one person wrote.
While the fellow concert goers seemed to support Lambert, other social media users were as supportive of Lambertâs actions. âWay to embarrass and shame your loyal fans who adore you,â one Twitter users wrote. âShe couldâve poked fun and posed in the selfie and then encouraged them to be in the moment after that. Not cool.â
âGoing to a concert is about creating an experience and a memory. If someone wants to take a picture to document that memory, they should be able to,â another Twitter user added.
The âself-takerâ in question has since responded to Lambertâs actions and shared the photos she took. âIt was 30 seconds at most,â Adela Calin said of the time it took to take the picture before they returned to their seats â adding that they âtook the picture quickly and were going to sit back down.â
However, before they could get to that point, Miranda Lambert has already called them out. Calin admitted she was âappalledâ at the way Lambert belittled them in front of thousands of people.
âIt felt like I was back at school with the teacher scolding me for doing something wrong and telling me to sit down back in my place,â she said. â⌠I feel like she was determined to make us look like we were young, immature and vain. But we were just grown women in our 30s to 60s trying to take a picture.â
