Camilla cried at the culmination of she and her husbandâs 11-day royal tour of Australia and Samoa, with certain sources reporting that thereâs a rather heartbreaking reason for her tears.
Itâs not just tradition that sees senior members of the Royal Family hold their emotions strictly in check while in view of the public; itâs practically protocol. Camilla, of the elder generation of royals, is usually every bit as stoic as the likes of King Charles, Princess Anne, and the late Queen Elizabeth.
Yet the 77-year-old was unable to hold back her tears during a farewell ceremony in the village of Siumu, Samoa as Charles â who has battled cancer for the entirety of this year â gave a moving speech upon being presented with the honorary title translating to âparamount chiefâ.
According to RadarOnline, the reason for Camillaâs uncharacteristic moment of raw emotion was that the Queen Consort is coming to terms with the idea that the end may be in sight with regards to her husbandâs fleeting reign as king.
Now, weâll go on record here in stating that thereâs been no official confirmation that Charlesâs cancer battle has taken a turn for the worse, nor any indication that the 76-year-old â who waited longer to ascend the throne than any heir-apparent in British history â is beginning to seriously struggle.
That said, the salient facts are that Charles has been combatting an undisclosed form of cancer since February, and there have been little-to-no updates regarding the success of failure of his treatments.
Why was Camilla crying?
Speculation has naturally filled the holes where concrete information isnât forthcoming, and itâs now being suggested in some quarters that Camilla crying at the end of she and Charlesâ most recent trip held some major significance.
âI shall always remain devoted to this part of the world and hope that I survive long enough to come back again and see youâ, Charles said in the aforementioned speech in Samoa. âWe shall take away with us, I promise you, very special memories of our time here.â
Observers could hardly miss Camillaâs tears streaming down her cheeks, though the Queen Consort did her best to hide them behind a fan.
As per RadarOnline, one royal insider said: âDeep in her heart she must fear Charles is dying and sheâll be left to face the remainder of her life alone.
âHow Camilla will endure royal life without Charles is anyoneâs guess. All this must have been going through her mind during his speech. You could see if in her tears.â
King Charles treatment
Charles notably suspended his cancer treatment while he and Camilla were away on their tour of Australia and Samoa, and some sources claimed he exhibited signs of chemotherapy side effects, including swollen, inflamed lips.
Earlier this year there were reports of friction between Charles and Camilla over how much work he was continuing to do. After an initial period wherein the King withdrew from public engagements and the like to focus on his treatment, he returned to a somewhat normal schedule.
This, apparently, was enough to leave Camilla âdeeply unhappyâ, or so said a friend of the Queen Consort, who insisted Camilla wants her husband to give all his strength to his recovery.
âCamilla would have been deeply unhappy that having only begun his holiday on Monday, he broke it off on Tuesday to do an incredibly intense engagement,â the friend in question told the Daily Beast.
âOf course, she understands it was very important, and there is no way she would try to tell Charles what to do, but it seems to be extraordinary timing. She wants him to slow down, she is afraid he is working too hard, and thatâs before you even get to the Australia tour.â
