As for his roles, Nolte has a fascination with playing homeless characters due to the depth and range these roles offer. For âDown and Out in Beverly Hills,â he even spent time on the streets and attempted to access homeless shelters to immerse himself in the character, an experience that quickly gave him a sense of the role.

When asked about his method for âRittenhouse Square,â he reflected on his earlier role in âDown and Out in Beverly Hills.â For the 1986 film, director Paul Mazursky had the film star live on the streets for about three days to understand the reality of homelessness.
This time, with âRittenhouse Square,â director Brandon Eric Kamin saw Nolte build upon that earlier experience, allowing him to deepen the character with the knowledge he had already gained.

Apart from making an effort to perfect a character, the Nebraska native reportedly feels Hollywood has changed so much that he hardly recognizes it. Since his last studio film, âAngel Has Fallenâ in 2019, and voicing Kuiil in âThe Mandalorian,â he has shifted to working primarily on independent films, where he now feels completely at ease.
