The actress’ sister has disclosed Sandra Bullock’s last moments with her longtime companion Bryan Randall prior to his passing.
The 57-year-old spouse of the “Oceans 8” actress sadly passed away from ALS, a condition he had concealed for a number of years.
“With deep sadness, we announce that Bryan Randall peacefully departed on August 5th, concluding a valiant 3-year battle against ALS,” his family said in a statement expressing their sorrow.
“Bryan made the deliberate choice to keep his fight with ALS private, and those of us who diligently cared for him respected his wish,” the family added. The statement continued, saying, “We would want to express our sincere gratitude to the medical staff who never wavered and helped us navigate the intricacies of this illness, as well as to the wonderful nurses who became a vital part of our life and frequently put their own families before ours. We respectfully request your privacy at this time of grief as we try to process the terrible truth of saying goodbye to Bryan.
Bullock’s sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado, paid homage to the gifted model-turned-photographer on Instagram, providing a unique glimpse into their last moments together.
On Monday, August 7, Gesine posted a happy photo of Randall with the caption, “I’m convinced that Bry has found the best fishing spot in heaven and is already casting his lure into rushing rivers teaming with salmon.”
She further disclosed that before he passed away on Saturday, August 5, Bullock had been by his side.
“ALS is a terrible illness, but it brings me some solace to know that my incredible sister and the team of nurses she gathered were the best caregivers for him at home,” Gesine went on. “Bryan, rest peacefully.”
On Monday, Randall’s family announced his departure and disclosed that he had been fighting the disease, which damages nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, in secret.
Bullock,59, and Randall first connected in January 2015 when the latter happened to take pictures of her son Louis’ birthday party. A few months later, the couple started dating, and that year they made their red carpet debut.
The “A Time to Kill” actress admitted on “Red Table Talk” in December 2021 that Randall was the “love of [her] life,” despite her preference for secrecy in her personal life.
The “Lost City” actress gushedly complimented their mixed family at the time, which included Sandra’s two children, Louis and Laila, and Randall’s daughter Skylar.
She stated that Randall “sets the example I wish my children to follow” when it comes to co-parenting.
