30-year-old Miracle Man, Who Woke Up From A 244-day Coma Was Killed By A Pickup Truck

Drew Kohn, a man celebrated as a ‘miracle’ for waking up from a 244-day coma, has sadly passed away after being struck by a pickup truck.

Back in late 2017, Drew shocked medical professionals by waking from a coma he entered after a serious motorcycle accident in Florida, just days before his 23rd birthday.

While heading to the gym, he was hit by a car, an accident that left him unconscious.

The crash was severe; he lost his helmet and a shoe, and sustained a traumatic brain injury, two impaled lungs, and multiple fractures including his shoulder, pelvis, and ribs among other injuries.

Initially, doctors at the hospital believed Drew was brain dead and would never walk or talk again.

His mother, Yolanda Osborne-Kohn, shared with First Coast News that the medical team had considered organ donation, but she held on to hope and refused.

She didn’t want to give up on her son and believed strongly in his recovery.

Drew remained in a coma for five months under medical care before he was moved to his mother’s home.

Yolanda relied heavily on her faith during this time. “It was because of my faith that gave me the boldness to speak up and push back and let them know ‘you’re not getting a toenail or an eyelash’,” she recounted.

Against all odds, Drew showed the first signs of life 244 days after the accident by waking up and reassuring his mom that he was ‘okay’.

He even added, “I love you, mom.” That was seven years ago, and since then, Drew had been relearning how to walk with the assistance of a team at Brooks Rehab.

However, his journey came to a tragic end on Friday (27 July) when he was hit by a pickup truck around 5:30 am local time.

The accident occurred just a few days before what would have been his 30th birthday.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the driver involved did not see Drew on the road but stopped immediately to call 911 after the accident.
