On the most recent episode of “11th Hour with Stephanie Ruhle” on MSNBC, Elon Musk addressed remarks made by Robert De Niro.
In the interview, De Niro compared Trump to Hitler and Mussolini, two infamous historical personalities, and implied that Trump’s reelection will cause anarchy.
On his social media platform X, Musk blasted De Niro for drawing a connection between Trump’s first four years in office and the totalitarian regimes of Hitler and Mussolini.
This, he said, “makes no sense” because Trump had already served as president for four years and his programs were completely different from Hitler’s. Musk further brought up the Abraham Accords, elaborating on how Trump’s actions differed greatly from what Hitler would have endorsed.
The Republican Fight Starring Robert De Niro
De Niro has made no secret of his distaste for Trump and the threats he represents to the United States. He said, “I don’t understand it,” indicating his perplexity about why some voters may think about voting for Trump again. God forbid he ever becomes president, but I don’t think they realize how risky it will be. I don’t believe they comprehend.
Speaking about the “banality of evil” and the entitlement that he observes in both Trump and his villainous character in Martin Scorsese’s 2023 crime drama “Killer of The Flower Moon,” the actor also made comparisons between the two.
Criticizing Trump is nothing new for De Niro; in fact, he made headlines in 2018 when he memorably cursed out Trump at the Tony Awards. The unwavering position he has taken shows how seriously he takes the possibility that Trump may harm America.
In stark contrast to De Niro’s dire warnings, Musk’s response on X highlights the continuing discussion about Trump’s presidency and its consequences. Both prominent personalities maintain their contrasting opinions as the discussion progresses.
